Florida humidity is the air-quality problem nobody warns you about.
High-MERV filtration, UV light sterilization, duct sealing, and whole-home dehumidifiers — engineered for Central Florida homes where 70% indoor humidity grows mold faster than any filter alone can keep up with.
Five upgrades that actually move the needle here.
Most national IAQ advice was written for cold, dry climates where the enemy is dust. In Central Florida, the enemy is moisture — humidity, microbial growth on coils, and biofilm in ductwork. Our IAQ stack is built specifically for that environment.
High-MERV filter upgrade
Most Florida homes ship with MERV 8 throwaway filters that catch dust but miss mold spores, pollen, and bacteria. We retrofit MERV 11 to MERV 13 media filter cabinets — 4-inch deep, replaced twice a year, sized so static pressure stays in spec and your blower motor doesn't get strangled.
UV-C light sterilization
A UV-C lamp mounted at the evaporator coil kills mold and bacteria on the wet coil surface — exactly where Florida humidity grows the most stuff. Brands: REME HALO, iWave, Fresh-Aire. Bulbs replace once a year as part of a Comfort Club visit.
Duct sealing & cleaning
Most Central Florida ductwork in attics leaks 20-30% of conditioned air into the attic itself — the worst-case scenario for energy and humidity. Aeroseal mastic-based duct sealing brings that under 5%. We pair it with NADCA-spec mechanical duct cleaning when biofilm is visibly present.
Whole-home dehumidifiers
An oversized AC short-cycles and never pulls enough moisture out — you set 75°F and the home still feels clammy. A dedicated whole-home dehumidifier (Aprilaire 1850, Santa Fe Ultra) ties into the return plenum and holds humidity at 50% regardless of cooling load. The single biggest comfort upgrade most Orlando homes can make.
Fresh-air ventilation (ERV)
Newer Florida homes are sealed too tight to breathe — CO2 climbs overnight in bedrooms, VOCs from finishes accumulate. An energy recovery ventilator brings filtered outdoor air in while exchanging heat and humidity with outgoing stale air. Required by code on some new builds; underused everywhere else.
IAQ assessment + plan
We start with a $0 in-home assessment: humidity readings room-by-room, static-pressure on your existing system, visual coil and duct inspection, and a written recommendation tiered from $300 to $5,000 so you can pick where to start.
Florida air is different. The problems are different.

Humidity, not dust
60-70% indoor humidity grows mold on coils, ductwork, and drywall — a problem your filter alone cannot solve.
Sealed-tight new builds
Modern Florida homes are airtight by code. Without ventilation, indoor air gets stale fast — especially with cooking and 6+ occupants.
Allergen-heavy climate
Pollen, mold spores, and Saharan dust events all hit Central Florida. MERV 13 filtration removes 90%+ of what MERV 8 misses.
Pet-heavy households
Florida is one of the most pet-dense states. Dander accumulates in ductwork; UV-C and MERV upgrades together are the realistic fix.
Vacation-rental cleanliness
Short-term rentals around Disney rotate guests weekly. Smell complaints kill ratings — IAQ packages built for STR turnover make a measurable difference.
Asthma & allergy relief
Customers with seasonal allergies or asthma report meaningful improvement within weeks of a MERV 13 + UV-C + dehumidifier package.
What customers say
“Honest, friendly, and fair. They quoted half what a national chain wanted for the same repair. Repeat customer for life.”
“Booked a tune-up online Friday night, they were out Saturday morning. Found a worn capacitor before it became a 3 AM emergency.”
“Tech showed up in a clean truck with shoe covers — small thing, big deal. Got our system running again the same afternoon.”
Indoor air quality questions
01Are you licensed and insured?+
Yes. First Class is fully licensed by the State of Florida and carries general liability and workers compensation insurance. Our license number is displayed in our footer and on every quote.
02Do you offer 24/7 emergency service?+
We dispatch emergency techs around the clock for no-cool and major leak calls. Standard service hours are 7 AM to 7 PM, Monday through Saturday.
Free in-home IAQ assessment.
Humidity readings, static-pressure check, coil + duct inspection, and a tiered written plan. No pressure, no obligation.
